Art has been a passion throughout my whole life. I have enjoyed years of creative exploration and experimentation with a variety of visual arts. This has lead to my love of working with mixed media.
I love to collect and break dishes, tile and glass. Then I cover parts of old mannequins or structures made of cement and recycled Styrofoam with original designs using the shards and hand-made fused glass tiles, creating unexpected, one-of-a-kind sculptures.
My love of books began in childhood. All of my Golden Books were embellished with my added drawings. Today my artist’s books are hand fabricated volumes made from new and recycled materials or deconstructed from an original book.
The word assemblage is defined by Wikipedia “…is an artistic process in which a three-dimensional artistic composition is made from putting together found objects.”
I couldn’t say it any better.
Whether making or breaking, what holds the components of my art together is glue and the passion I bring to my craft. With a unique slant toward making art by using recycled materials, the results of my creativity satisfies an artistic and environmental need, for me and, I hope, for my audience.
